1. First Visit & Getting Started
Q: What should I expect on my first visit?
A: You’ll need to bring your ID—you must be 21+. A budtender will check your ID and will ask what brings you in. If you’re new, just say so—we’ll walk you through everything at your pace. We’ll ask about what experience you’re looking for, show you options in your budget, and explain how to use them. No pressure, no judgment, no rush. Most first visits take 10-15 minutes, but you can take as long as you need.
Q: Is it okay if I don’t know anything about cannabis?
A: Absolutely! Most of our customers started exactly where you are. You’re not expected to know the difference between indica and sativa, or memorize strain names. That’s literally what we’re here for. Our staff is trained to meet you wherever you are—whether it’s your first time or you’re returning after years away.
Q: What if I ask a “dumb question”?
A: There are no dumb questions here. Seriously. We’d rather you ask us 10 times to explain something than walk out confused. Our job is to make you feel comfortable, not to show off what we know. If you’re nervous, just tell your budtender “This is my first time” or “I haven’t done this in 20 years”—we’ll take it from there.
Q: Will I be judged for not knowing what I want?
A: Never. We remember our first times too. We built this place for people who don’t speak fluent “cannabis” yet. Think of us more like helpful guides than gatekeepers. The only thing we judge is whether we helped you find what you needed.
Q: Can I come in just to ask questions without buying anything?
A: Of course! We’d rather you feel informed and ready than pressured into a purchase. Think of your first visit as a learning experience. Browse, ask questions, get comfortable. When you’re ready, we’ll be here.
2. Understanding Our Products
Q: What’s the difference between what you sell and Delta-8 from gas stations?
A: Huge difference. We sell real, full-strength cannabis (Delta-9 THC) that’s grown, tested, and tracked by Maine’s legal system. Delta-8 is a hemp-derived product—often called “weed light”—that’s synthetically converted using chemicals and barely regulated. Gas station products aren’t tested the same way, can contain harmful solvents, and deliver unpredictable effects. If you want the real thing with real oversight, that’s what we’re here for.
Q: How do I know your products are actually safe and legitimate?
A: Every product we sell has a Certificate of Analysis (COA) from a state-licensed lab. That means it’s been tested for potency, pesticides, heavy metals, and contaminants. You can ask to see the COA for any product—we’re proud to show them. This is state-regulated cannabis, not a science experiment from an online forum.
Q: Why should I trust dispensary products over what I used to get?
A: Because we’re legally required to prove what’s in them. Your old source? No testing, no accountability, no guarantees. Our products are tracked from seed to sale, grown by licensed Maine cultivators, and tested by independent labs. If something’s wrong, you can return it. Try doing that with street weed.
Q: What strains test clean with no pesticides?
A: Interestingly, cannabis sold in the medical program in Maine is NOT tested for safety and purity. The Adult Use program 21+ (Recreational) requires that all products sold are fully tested. COAs are available with each product we sell. Ask your budtender.
Q: I have no idea what to buy. Can you just tell me what’s good?
A: Absolutely. Forget strain names and technical terms—let’s start with how you want to feel. Do you want to sleep better? Relax after work? Be social and giggly? Feel creative? Manage pain? Once we know that, we can point you to exactly what you need. It’s a 3-question conversation, not a pop quiz.
Q: How do I know you’re not just trying to upsell me?
A: Because our goal is to get you what works, not what’s most expensive. If a $25 eighth does the job, that’s what we’ll recommend. Happy customers come back—oversold customers don’t. We’d rather you start small, see how it goes, and build from there. No pressure, no judgment.
Q: What if I don’t know if I want indica or sativa?
A: Don’t worry about that. Those terms can be confusing even for experienced users. Instead, tell us what you’re hoping to experience: “I want to relax but not fall asleep” or “I want something for a social gathering” or “I need help sleeping.” We’ll translate that into actual product recommendations. You don’t need to memorize cannabis vocabulary—we speak your language.
3. Potency & Effects
Q: What will give me the strongest high?
A: For a strong experience comes from a mixture of THC and terpenes. Concentrates have the highest potency, then vape carts and then flower. If you like edibles, they can be potent too but take longer to kick in. Start small and adjust as needed. Effects vary per person.
Q: What will help me relax or sleep?
A: For relaxing or nighttime use, an indica-leaning flower or low-dose gummy is popular. Flower provides a more immediate effect, while edibles come on slower but last longer. Many people pair a calming scent or a small smoke-free option to enhance relaxation. Effects vary, so go slow.
Q: What will give me energy or keep me functional?
A: For an uplifting, functional experience, sativa or hybrid flower works well, or a light, flavorful vape. These tend to provide energy without being overwhelming. Everyone’s response is different, so start low and see what works best.
Q: What product has the best flavor?
A: Flavorful options include hybrid vapes or fruity-flavored edibles. Flavor options in edibles and beverages cover a wide range. There is lot’s to choose from based on your preferences. For flower, terpene-rich strains offer sweet, citrusy, or earthy aromas. Effects vary per person, so try a small amount first.
Q: What hits the fastest?
A: Inhalation, such as smoking flower, vaping or concentrates are the quickest to feel. Edibles take longer but provide a longer-lasting effect. Choose what fits your timing and comfort level.
Q: What lasts the longest?
A: Edibles often last the longest, with effects building slowly over time. Products you inhale (prerolls, flower, vapes, concentrates) are faster to feel the effects but shorter in duration. Start with a small dose and see how it feels.
4. Product Types & Formats
Q: What’s the best value for flower?
A: For great value, ask your budtender what is on sale today or items that have budget pricing. We try to always have a selection of products to meet our customers’ preferences regarding potency and price. Look for mid-range options that are fresh and flavorful. Effects vary, so try a small amount first to see how it feels.
Q: What’s the most flavorful vape?
A: The main difference is the starting material: live resin is extracted from freshly harvested, flash-frozen cannabis to preserve its fresh flavor and aroma, while cured resin is made from dried and cured cannabis flowers, which can lead to a different, often more stable, product. Live resin is considered more aromatic with a complex flavor and a sap-like texture, whereas cured resin has a more stable, drier, and often crumbly consistency and may be more affordable. If you prefer an experience where the flavor is more fruity, earthy, or grassy ask your budtender for specific information. If you are more budget minded ask to learn more about our distillates.
Q: What edibles are strongest?
A: Maine law restricts the dosing per edible at a maximum 10 mgs per piece. Packages can include 20 pieces at 10 mg = 200 mgs in the package. Another option is beverages where you can determine how strong you want it. For nighttime, indica gummies or products that also include THC + CBN can enhance the relaxing feeling. For daytime, smaller doses or ‘micro dosing’ edibles can keep you functional. Effects vary, so start with a small piece.
Q: What’s the best option if I don’t want to smoke?
A: Edibles or vapes are ideal for smoke-free use. Gummies and soft chews are discreet, while vapes offer fast effects. Tinctures are helpful for functional use as you can schedule them at the same time/dose each day. Everyone responds differently, so start slow and see what works for you.
Q: Do you have anything discreet/odorless?
A: Odorless options include beverages, edibles, tinctures, or vapes. These are easy to use without drawing attention. Effects vary per person, so start with a gentle amount.
Q: What’s a good microdose option?
A: For microdosing, low-dose options (2-5mg) such as tablets, gummies or beverages are convenient. Also, very small puffs on a vape also work well. Great for a gentle effect without feeling overwhelmed. Everyone’s tolerance is different.
5. Wellness & Personal Use
Q: What helps with stress?
A: For stress relief, a lower potency flower or low-dose gummy is popular. Flower gives a faster onset experience; edibles come on slowly and last longer. Take small doses first to see what works for you.
Q: What’s good for pain relief without being too strong?
A: You can approach it from two angles. 1. Get immediate relief to help reduce the inflammation by smoking, vaping, or applying our RELEAF topical. If you have chronic pain many customers have shared the benefits of micro-dosing with edibles. It works better to reduce the pain sensation over a longer period. Effects vary, so start small and monitor your response.
Q: What won’t make me anxious?
A: THC can cause anxiety. Ask your budtender to recommend products lower in THC and consider products containing CBD, CBG and/or terpenes that create a more relaxing feeling. Start with a small amount and go slow.
Q: What’s good for sleep but won’t leave me groggy?
A: Low-dose edibles or indica-leaning flower work well for sleep. Flower can be beneficial to help you fall asleep while edibles can help you to stay asleep. Many people use small doses early in the evening to avoid morning grogginess. Ask your budtender about products that are designed for sleep. Effects vary, so experiment carefully.
6. Brand & Quality
Q: What’s the freshest flower you have?
A: Not only are all the products lab tested to ensure its safety, but we also track harvest dates. Ask your budtender to search for a selection by harvest date. Also, make sure to store your cannabis flower in airtight containers out of the sun.
Q: Who grows the best craft product?
A: Craft growers often produce flavorful flowers with unique terpene profiles. Fruity, dessert and gassy notes are popular. We like to stock fan favorites in addition to new selections so that our customers experience different strains and growers. Our staff do their homework so make sure to ask your budtender. Effects vary, so start small and see what you enjoy.
Q: What’s your most consistent brand?
A: We work with Maine’s craft growers who are masters at what they do—each one brings their own expertise and signature style, kind of like chefs. They rotate genetics to keep things interesting, which means you get variety and freshness. We stock a good range of Maine’s finest at different price points, from well-established favorites to exciting newer producers. You’ll find both familiar names and talented growers who are building their reputation for quality.
Q: Which pre-rolls burn evenly?
A: Premium pre-rolls from reputable growers burn more evenly due to controlling how the pre-rolls are packed, consistency of the grind, and moisture of the starting material. We sell two assorted styles—cigarette (straight, no crutch) and cones. They also come in different weights so that you can have one for personal use or for sharing. Ask your budtender about our variety packs.
7. Experience & Lifestyle
Q: What won’t smell up the house?
A: Edibles, beverages, tinctures and vapes are good choices. Effects vary, so try a light dose first.
Q: What won’t knock me out?
A: Not everyone is the same, but Sativa-leaning or hybrid flowers often provide energy while keeping you alert. Feeling energized or relaxed can be enhanced by the terpenes. Ask your budtender about the flower’s cannabinoid profile and terpenes so that you can see how it affects you.
Q: What strain is like what I liked last time?
A: Easy! If you are a member we can review your past purchases. Consider the flavor or effect profile you liked before. Once we know what you like we can make additional recommendations. Things to consider: onset, duration, feeling (giggly, relaxed, creative, social, contemplative, relaxed, etc.) & taste. Effects vary.
Q: Anything good for beginners?
A: Low-dose edibles, lower THC flowers, or smooth vapes are beginner-friendly. Start small, see how your body responds. Effects vary.
8. Price & Value
Q: Why is dispensary cannabis more expensive than what I used to get?
A: Great question—and we get it all the time. Here’s what you’re actually paying for: state-mandated lab testing (no pesticides, mold, or contaminants), tracking from seed to sale, knowledgeable staff, consistent hours and selection, return policies if something doesn’t work for you, and zero legal risk. Street cannabis might be cheaper upfront, but it comes with hidden costs: unknown chemicals, no recourse if it’s bad, legal jeopardy, and the hassle of unreliable availability. Think of it like buying produce at a farmer’s market versus behind a gas station—you’re paying for quality assurance and peace of mind.
Q: What’s the best deal today?
A: We have everyday deals, monthly deals, flash sales, and loyalty points for members. Check out our DEALS page for this month’s specials and our menu for store deals. Ask your budtender if you qualify for any other deals we are running. The budtenders can help you figure out the best deal for you. The best way to stay informed is by signing up for our newsletter (right here on the website). You get a $10 off coupon and a monthly deal only for newsletter subscribers.
Q: What can I get for $20 / $40 / $100?
A: We can work with your budget. Share your desired spend with your Budtender and they will guide you depending on your preference for flower, edibles, vapes, etc.
Q: What’s the best bang-for-the-buck eighth?
A: There are many ways to shop for cannabis and strength, and price are often used as a starting point. Ask your Budtender so that you can review your options for current deals we are running.
Q: Do you have bundle discounts?
A: Bundles combining flower, edibles, tinctures or pre-rolls often provide savings and variety. It’s a wonderful way to see what you like without a big commitment. Our bundles change monthly so ask your Budtender. You can review deals by visiting our DEALS page and by looking at the top of the online menu where we highlight our specials. Effects vary.
9. Store Operations & Policies
Q: Do you have any new drops?
A: We often get new items! Either the release of a new strain or seasonal addition by our edible manufacturers. Want to learn more? Attend one of our pop-ups held in our stores. This gives you the opportunity to see the folks behind your favorite brands and products. Each of our stores has a slightly different menu so do compare for the best selection. Limited drops vary by store.
Q: When are you getting more [specific product]?
A: Who knew that when cannabis became legal, we would have so many choices! Maine is special that it has so many wonderful boutique providers of cannabis and cannabis infused products. Due to the small footprint of distribution, companies do change what they are offering. If we don’t have the specific product you ordered in the past, we will work with you to find something near to the same effect you are seeking.
Q: Do you have this strain in multiple formats?
A: Great question, yes some of our partners will create assorted products from the starting material. Ask your Budtender for guidance. Many strains of available flower are available in different size, vape, or pre-roll. Effects vary per person, so start low.
Q: How much can I buy each visit?
A: Maine OCP (Office of Cannabis Policy) has the following purchase limits—daily, a store may sell you up to 2.5 oz of cannabis and up to 10 grams of concentrate & edibles within the total of 2.5-ounce limit.
Q: Can I travel with this?
A: Since cannabis is still federally illegal, you must consume products you buy in Maine, within Maine. Consumption is only allowed on private property with permission. Cannabis cannot leave Maine or be taken on public transportation such as planes or trains.
Q: How should I store my flower, so it doesn’t dry out?
A: Any botanical can go dry or get moldy depending on how it is stored. When you buy flower from Canuvo, it has been kept in a vault programmed for the correct temperature and humidity. When you take your cannabis home, keep flower in an airtight container, away from light and heat. If your flower becomes dry, you can use a Boveda pack to balance the humidity. Ask your Budtender as they can review your variables and make the best suggestions.
